If you want to create rare and valuable content, you need to have a process that guarantees quality.

This is important because quality content:

  • Brings more value

  • Makes people think you are among the best in your niche

  • Make people want to share & recommend you

  • Make people want to pay for what you have to offer

  • Get others in the industry to notice you

  • Creates unique opportunities for growth

But what is quality content? Most people answer in one of two ways.

Secret to Success: What is quality content & how to create quality content every time.

There are many definitions of quality content, but most people see it in one of two ways:

  • Quality content is professionally written, deep and informative. It brings something new to the table. It’s the type of content you’d read in The New Yorker.

  • Quality content is easy to read and understand. It’s simple, fun, practical, and not too long. So, the opposite of what you’d find in The New Yorker.

These two perspectives have separated content creators into two distinctive camps. The New Yorker camp says the easy writers can’t really write. The easy writers say they make more money than The New Yorkers.

This used to be confusing to me until I recently realised that there is a way out.

There is a secret third camp. It’s a small group of content creators who know quality content is both deep & informative AND practical, fun & easy to understand.

These writers are who we all want to become. They get featured in top media and run 7-figure businesses. Editors love them, and their audience does, too.

Examples:

  • Lenny Rachitsky, writer of Lenny’s Newsletter on Substack. He’s worked in Airbnb, has been featured in Fast Co. and has 500K+ subscribers.

  • Michael Simmons, freelance writer for The Observer and author of the Blockbuster Blueprint newsletter. He has 145K+ subscribers.

  • Dan Koe, a writer and YouTuber who’s on his way to making $4 million this year with zero employees.

They know how to create blockbuster content again and again, and again and… But how?

The process for creating consistently good content that gets attention.

Good writers don’t count on inspiration. They don’t wake up with great ideas every day. Instead, they have a process they can rely on.

That’s not a secret. Everyone talks about having a process. Systems. Habits.

In this newsletter, I won’t beat you over the head with the importance of a writing habit or tell you how to structure your stories.

Instead, I’ll show you how to guarantee success for (almost) every piece of content the way successful writers do.

  1. Spend more time on every story or video. Set a minimum of hours.

  2. Change something every time. This way, you’ll find what works.

  3. Use more resources & quote them to boost credibility. People always want to know what The Greats are doing.

  4. Add something new to the conversation. You don’t need to come up with entirely new ideas but always strive to add to existing ones.

Use this system to create a checklist of things to check off before you post anything.

Now that you have the rough process of successful writers, let’s dive into HOW to make it work — even if you don’t have “more time” or new ideas.

How to make the process of The Greats work for you (and proof that it works)
