The offer is everything.
If you choose the right offer, you've won. You’re selling something people already want. That’s 80% of the game.
Marketing helps. Visibility helps. But selling the wrong thing? That’s an uphill battle.
So, how do most people decide what to sell?
They copy what works. Courses about platforms. Products based on SEO research. Proven demand. They build what the data says people want.
They guess. It sounds good, so they build it, make it great, and cross their fingers.
If you’re playing it safe, go with the first. Sell what already sells. Make money, rinse, repeat.
But what if you want to do more?
What if you want to be known for something unique?
Henry Ford famously said: “If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.”
So how do you offer something people want but also something new that goes above and beyond?
Understand the need.
People didn’t want a horse. They wanted to move faster.
The trick isn’t to ask what they want. It’s to uncover what they need.
People say they want to grow on Substack. What they need is a way to make money doing work they love, and working less than they do now.
They say they want to be featured in Business Insider. What they need is status, credibility, and trust. There are dozens of ways to get there.
Find the need behind the want. See beyond what they ask for. Then, offer them a different way.
That’s how you make something worth talking about.
Till next time,
Maya
