Last week, I lost a €90K deal because I told the truth when I could’ve stayed quiet.
My husband and I are starting a real estate business flipping properties. This was our first sale — a big one. And we were ready to move. Deposit lined up. Documents in order. Buyer excited.
But there was a mistake I noticed. Not mine, but it was there.
(For legal reasons, I can’t say more.)
And I had a choice: let it go and walk away €90,000 richer.
Or call it out and walk away with nothing.
I chose the second.
I didn’t do it because I wanted to be noble. I did it because I want to be proud of the way I build things.
And sometimes that costs you. Sometimes it costs a lot.
But I’ve realized something: I don’t want to build fast. I want to build right.
This applies to more than real estate.
Some of you have followed me through different experiments and offers.
Some have bought a product I made. Some haven’t.
And I’ll say this as clearly as I can:
Not everything I’ve built so far has lived up to my own expectations.
Some things were rushed. Some were safe. Some were... let’s just say, not fully me.
But I’m done with silly, small offers just to make some cash. I’m done pretending the game is to stay visible or be clever. I don’t want to be clever. I want to be clear.
So here’s me being clear: I’m building something I really believe in. It’s called The Smarter Solopreneur Strategy and it’s the most aligned work I’ve ever created.
It’s not ready yet. I’m still shaping it, but I’m sharing it now because I’m excited — and because I want to do this one differently.
No urgency. No launch countdown. No hype.
Just a slow, intentional build that reflects what I actually believe:
That clarity is more valuable than fast growth.
That voice matters more than volume.
That being proud of your work is the real ROI.
If you’ve ever felt pulled in ten directions...
If you’ve ever been tempted to follow someone else’s template instead of your own…
If you want to build something you can stand behind and say, “Yes. That’s mine. That’s me.”
Then this will be worth keeping an eye on.
It’s a strategy program, yes. But more than that, it’s a way of thinking — a way of leading yourself that feels calm, focused, and real.
I’m not promising $10K months. I am promising you’ll finally feel clear about what you're building, how it fits you, and why it matters.
I’ll keep you posted as I go. Today, I just wanted to say this out loud:
I’m not chasing the algorithm.
I’m not optimizing for speed.
I’m not all about the money.
I’m building slow. And I’m building something I’m proud of.
Because I know the right people will get it.
And maybe you’re one of them.
Maya
PS. Yes, you can build that way, too.
This reminds me of a scene from the movie titled "The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind" where someone mocks the boy's father for being too honest. And he said "What good can come from an honest business man?" and the first thing I thought of was 'Peace of mind'.
It frustrates me that business is so often tied to dishonesty, a stereotype that overlooks the many principled entrepreneurs who thrive through trust and authenticity.
You made a very wise decision to be honest, and I gladly look forward to the launch of The Smarter Solopreneur Strategy.
It's best to play fair in business if not all of life. You gotta live w/ yourself and you would always know (if it was a flaw in your favor) that you let occur. Also, there's retribution, and sometimes it doesn't come today or tomorrow (for some people it seems it Never comes) but it can come, as a sidewinder, when you least expect it. And yeah, sleeping at night is important.
