This reminds me of a scene from the movie titled "The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind" where someone mocks the boy's father for being too honest. And he said "What good can come from an honest business man?" and the first thing I thought of was 'Peace of mind'.
It frustrates me that business is so often tied to dishonesty, a stereotype that overlooks the many principled entrepreneurs who thrive through trust and authenticity.
You made a very wise decision to be honest, and I gladly look forward to the launch of The Smarter Solopreneur Strategy.
It's best to play fair in business if not all of life. You gotta live w/ yourself and you would always know (if it was a flaw in your favor) that you let occur. Also, there's retribution, and sometimes it doesn't come today or tomorrow (for some people it seems it Never comes) but it can come, as a sidewinder, when you least expect it. And yeah, sleeping at night is important.
So very true Maya, slow but steadily honest is what I have always tried to be. Unfortunate in some ways as it has cost me money also, but so good in other ways as it has bought me peace.
Maya, this piece shook me in the most profound way.
I have had my own share of moments where I lost a significant stake—sometimes money, sometimes prestige—simply because I chose to stand on the side I knew was right. And like you, I never regretted it. Each time, I reminded myself: I want to walk through life in a way that makes my family and future generations proud … and above all, I want to be able to look directly into the face of God—whatever name or form They take—without shame, only honor.
Your courage, clarity, and refusal to sell your soul are exactly what this world needs more of. Thank you for not just sharing your loss, but showing us what real success looks like.

I like the quote from "Harnessed."
It's a great movie. You should check it out. And it's based on a true story
I think I may have seen it, but a long time ago. I’ll re-check it though. Thanks.
