The Creator Economy Is Here To Stay—Here’s What’s Next
According to the 2025 Creator Economy Report.
You’re a creator now. It’s a big deal.
You’ve chosen a career that didn’t exist 20 years ago.
Well, it did, but it was all mystified, red-taped and gate-kept.
Now, you just need access to the Internet to share big ideas, monetise them and change the world.
Because it’s a new concept, many of you still find it hard to believe.
Still wonder if it’ll last. Still worry about the opportunities for monetisation.
Enough worrying. The Creator Economy is here to stay. All you have to do to make the best of it is learn how it works & what can make you a successful creator in 2025 and beyond.
To that end, here are the highlights (in my opinion) of the 2025 Creator Economy Report, courtesy of Ollie Forsyth from New Economies.
The appeal of alternate information sources is growing.
“This year’s Edelman Trust Barometer revealed mistrust in journalists is increasing, with 64% of respondents worrying they are purposely trying to mislead people. At the same time, 74% of people trust “someone like me” to tell the truth, on par with scientists. Given today’s environment of mistrust and misinformation, we expect many consumers will continue to be more discerning about who they consume information from and who can be trusted sources of information. Their search for alternate and independent sources will fuel the popularity of newsletters going forward.”
More expert creators are emerging.
“As the creator economy becomes more widely adopted, creators will have to find their niche and figure out what type of content is most suited to their audience and platform algorithms.”
If it’s difficult for you to find a niche, don’t think of it as a niche, think of it as the big idea you want to help the world adopt.
Creators quitting.
“Staying relevant is constantly on most creators' minds. As a creator, you are the business. How do you continue to produce the best possible content for your audience who you hope will find your content engaging and entertaining—while managing all aspects of the business, from HR and production to design and marketing? This can result in heightened and sustained pressure that takes a toll on mental health.”
While it’s natural for some to test a new career and discover it’s not for them, the biggest problem I see here is that solopreneurship as a concept is still so unfamiliar.
No one taught us how to be solopreneurs. No one taught us how to pick and choose the opportunities that fit our goals best; how to say no to everything else; how to continue our personal & professional growth without letting the business run our lives.

Stories & ideas rule.
“With more options than ever, creators need to continue to focus on how to tell the best stories. There is no magic formula to game the algorithm. Great storytelling will always win and audiences will follow. I tell creators to think story first and format second meaning what’s the idea or the story and get really confident about that first.”—Kim Larson, Global MD & Head of YouTube Creators.
The Creator Economy is here to stay.
“The creator economy is by no means disappearing—it is going through a cycle of consolidation and continues to gather steam. We believe many more of us will become creators in the future—with the creator market size expected to double by 2027—and new types of innovation will take place that will unleash an exciting new generation of creators and founders.”

Happy weekend, awesome solos!
Maya
Very insightful Maya, thank you for sharing.
I think we need more thinking and evaluating our own lives on what we truly want.
The pressure is absolutely real. But I like what Dan Koe says:
Build what you wanted to see in the world,
Build for yourself, build yourself.
I mean it's profound and a massive life change if you really start to implement it.
There is no clear line about a niche I feel but if we just think of it as a concept to 'change our lives for the better' this gives a solid ground to stand on.
It's personal growth for each one of us as well as value being shared with those that connect with us/ our message ( our audience in a way).
Thank you for the summary, Maya! I suddenly was able to see how solopreneurship really should be great for me, as I’m good at so many things and love to switch tasks up to not get bored. It’s time to connect the dots and make it happen.
