Your core value is what makes people choose you over anyone else.

Somewhere in the list of your primary activities, there’s your core value.

This isn’t just the thing you get paid for. It’s the essence of your business. It’s your unique advantage.

Let me explain this with an example.

Let’s take a solopreneur who sells notebooks on Amazon.

Here’s an overview of their process.

  • They search for keywords on Amazon.

  • They identify categories with high or growing search demand but few offerings. For example, “funny notebooks for teen girls” has a growing demand but only a few options:

  • They come up with cool designs or phrases.

  • They create the notebook in a design program (mainly changing the cover).

  • They post it for sale on Amazon using the right keywords.

  • When there’s a sale, Amazon prints and delivers the notebooks, then pays the solopreneur a cut.

What are the primary activities in this solo business?

I’d say:

  • Amazon keyword research

  • Design

  • Publishing new listings

But where would you say is the core value?
